ميدان نقش جهان و نگهداری از شهرها

Summary:

My article on Naghsh-e Jahan Square and Maintenance of Cities in Architecture and Culture nr. 24, features an historic square in Isfahan, the capitol of the Saffaviden dynasty of Iran, which is registered as a World Heritage Site. A new building with many stories near Naghsh-e Jahan Square caused fierce debates on the subject of Iran’s cultural heritage in architecture.

The article makes comparisons between the preservation of cities in Europe and in Iran, so readers can understand that the buildings of past eras are relevant as the face of every city in the world. The European example of preservation before the Second World War and in the decades after the war, and how Europeans currently treat their cities, is an important part of the article, because the area of conservation remains unknown for architectural experts and students in Iran.

In conclusion, the article tries to give readers a new perspective of the potential face of Iranian cities, but only if they are properly preserved.
